ROCK CANDY (2017-2018)

"Rock Candy" is an installation consisting of 27 giant stones gift-wrapped in gold and purple metallic foil, much of which came from first-aid emergency blankets. The installation is placed at the intersection of hiking trails used by runners, bikers, and other passersby. By offering a shot of sugar when viewers need it most, Rock Candy makes a promise it cannot fulfill; it playfully makes a visual gift instead. The installation is part of the Hollufgård ArtPark in Odense and outcome of a three-week artist's residency in July 2017.

A sequel of Rock Candy was developed for Murun Sum as part of the 5th Land Art Biennale Mongolia (LAM) in 2018. Instead of gold and purple, this iteration of the project used silver and green emergency foil to reflect both the importance of the sky in the Mongolian cultural history and the parched landscape of the Mongolian steppe.
